The Burlington City Council meets on Mondays, three times each month at 7pm. Their meetings air live on Channel 317 (Burlington Telecom) and on Channel 17 at the air times listed below. Meeting schedules, agendas and minutes can be found here.

As the Department's "board of directors," The Public Works Commission represents the citizens of Burlington in determining and demanding appropriate Departmental performance. Jeff Conant is a writer, educator, and social justice activist with a focus on international development and ecology. His book, A Poetics of Resistance: the Revolutionary Public Relations of the Zapatista Insurgency (AK Press, 2010) examines the cultural politics of the Zapatista movement of Chiapas, Mexico, focusing on the Zapatistas' persuasive use of symbolic language and colorful imagery to bring their struggle to the world's attention.
