Local Matters: Minor League Baseball in Burlington - Part 2 09/09/2010

Vermont Lake Monsters are the current Minor League Team playing in Burlington.  Field and stadium conditions don't meet League standards.  Vice President of the Lake Monsters Kyle Bostwick, long time citizen and business supporter Skip Farrell, and citizen supporter Tom Simon join in the conversation on the future of baseball in Burlington with Burlington Free Press reporter Mike Donahue.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.

The 5th annual Citizens Bank Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival and Races was held Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Waterfront Park in Burlington, Vermont. “The Connor Crew” from Montpelier won the Citizens Bank Champ Cup in 51:32. The final championship race was comprised of the top five best times in a field of 75 teams that raced all day long to raise money for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and Dragonheart Vermont.

Burlington Parks and Recreation: Stonyfield “Bid with Your Lid” Press Conference 06/10/2010

Burlington Parks & Recreation and Stonyfield Farm Organic Yogurt announce a partnership regarding Stonyfield’s  summer “Bid with Your Lid” program. As a part of Stonyfield’s campaign, three Burlington Parks and Recreation programs have been identified to be featured in local grocery stores with the ‘Bid with Your Lid’ promotion. The Natural Playground, the Recreation and Nutrition Program and the Burlington Area Community Garden program are the identified beneficiaries of the program.
