BT's Future: Next Steps You Can Take Today

July 11, 2014

More than 50 concerned citizens turned out on Tuesday evening (July 8th) for the Vermont Public Service Board’s hearing on Burlington Telecom. So many thanks to those who testified!

Many of the comments:

- Focused on the value of Burlington Telecom for the long term prosperity of the City,

- Adressed the need for larger public involvement in decisions about the future of BT, and

- Questioned the wisdom of selling Burlington Telecom as a condition of the Citibank deal.

What’s Next? The City is slated to respond to a series of detailed questions by the PSB on 7/15. The Technical Hearing takes place on 7/22. In the meantime, the PSB still wants to hear from the public.

Decisions Will Be Finalized. Burlington Telecom is a vital asset that will have a significant impact on the future of Burlington and surrounding communities. Burlington has already solved the problem of open, publicly controlled network. We own one!

Now is the time to weigh in with your concerns and ideas about securing the future of BT for our region.
