Youth Make Media at CCTV and Channel 17/Town Meeting TV

CCTV and Channel 17/Town Meeting TV welcome summer youth interns Henry Prine and Becca Camp-Allen.

"I am really excited to return to Channel 17 this summer. I hope to develop my film making skills through being out in the community with a camera and editing pieces together. Channel 17 has great staff to work with and I am looking forward to returning this summer."

Henry Prine is the Channel 17/Town Meeting TV summer intern. Henry will assist in post-production, summer camp and in the creation of video station identifiers. Look for Henry out and about with a video camera in June shooting a special segment on "Free Speech and Democracy" for July 4th. Henry has worked in a variety of volunteer capacities at Channel 17 since he was 12. When offered to return as a paid intern this summer, there was no hesitation in our acceptance.  Henry's focus, knowledge of politics and interest in video are a magic combination and fit into the mission of CCTV and Channel 17 perfectly

Rebecca Camp-Allen joins the ranks of volunteer community of producers.  Becca will spend her summer learning from CCTV and Channel 17 the skills to be the videographer for the LEAP (Learn, Earn and Prosper) program. LEAP is a collaborative independent living project for youth created through a partnership of Navicate, ReSOURCE, the State of Vermont Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Vermont Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Vermont Association of Business, Industry and Rehabilitation and The Gibney Family Foundation.  Look for Becca at the Channel 17 studios and out in the community behind a video camera. "I'm excited for the work with Channel 17 and the LEAP Crew over the summer videotaping the LEAP Crew and helping to make the video for their website.  I hope to gain skills with filming and editing videos so that I can use these skills for a future career."

Do you know a young person aged 11-14 interested in stretching their community media making skills? Sign them up for Community TV Summer Camp, July 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Channel 17 Studios.  Registration is through Burlington Parks and Recreation at www.enjoyburlington.com or by calling 864-0123.

Channel 17/Town Meeting TV provides government access and public affairs programming to the Comcast cable subscribers of Colchester, South Burlington, Burlington, Essex Town, Essex Junction, Winooski, Williston and St. George as well as to the subscribers of Burlington Telecom cable. Channel 17’s mission is to make government more accessible and accountable to Chittenden County residents and to provide citizens with a direct link to public policy makers.
