The "First" meeting of Youth Video Club met Thursday night. We toured the station, looked at a little video and jumped right into checking out the cameras. The general consensus seems to be "let's get together periodically and make videos." We decided to meet next on Thursday June 11th after school to record the happenings at the Lawrence Barnes Reading around the World program. I will bring two cameras. One can roam around the school and one can be set up to record stories. Video clubbers can run the cameras and interview folks.
Other ideas for future video clubs include:
Interviewing some parents in the studio about their trips to 1. China and 2. Vietnam; or their work.
Making a feature movie called the "Wizard of Odd"
Roaming around the streets asking random people questions
At this point every video club meeting will be "The first meeting of video club" so people can come and go as they please and need to. As kids feel more comfortable with making videos they can also work on their own or with other groups of kids. So, please pass the word on to your kids that they are welcome to join in on Thursday, June 11th for the "First gathering of video club" and make a story about Barnes Reading Around the World Festival.
