In this afternoon panel, James Haslam/ Vermont Workers Center, Floyd Nease/ Director of VT Association for Mental Health and Jacqueline Majoros/State Ombudsman for VT Legal Aid talk about their legislative lessons. Commissioning of State's Largest Solar Installation in South Burlington 07/27/2011

382 solar trackers composed of more than 9,000 individual panels make up Vermont’s largest solar installation, commissioned in South Burlington, Vermont.  Joined by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and Lt. Governor Phil Scott, the Williston-based AllEarth Renewables hosts the many businesses and partners involved in the 2.2 MW solar farm. The project, part of the state’s innovative Standard Offer program, uses the Vermont-made AllSun Tracker – pole-mounted solar energy systems that use GPS and wireless technology to orient with the sun throughout the day to produce more energy than fixed solar.

Governor Peter Shumlin: Signing of The Vermont Energy Act of 2011 05/25/2011

Gov. Peter Shumlin signs H.56, The Vermont Energy Act, promoting renewable energy development and clean energy jobs, at the commissioning of a 150kW solar array at the Farm at South Village in South Burlington.  The array provides carbon-free electricity for 100% of the Farm at South Village and South Village Community's energy consumption needs.  The array will also provide clean energy to the City of South Burlington for the City's traffic lights.

Governor Peter Shumlin: Signing of Legislation Benefiting Vermont Veterans and their Families 05/24/2011

Gov. Peter Shumlin signs The Veterans Job Tax Credit providing qualified employers with a tax credit for each veteran that is hired as a new full-time employee. The law also grants up to a $2000.00 credit against income tax liability to a recently deployed veteran for expenses associated with a start-up business in which the veteran has at least a 50% ownership interest. The Governor will also sign into law legislation that grants Continuity in Education for Children in Military Families.
