Reid Ewing is an expert on how the built environment can create mobility alternatives to the car. He talks about recent work he has completed for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the effect of the "3Ds"--density of development, diversity of land uses, and design of streets and public spaces--on walking and transit use. Co-sponsored by the CCRPC and the CCMPO.  Reid Ewing is a Professor of City and Metroplitan Planning at the University of Utah, associate editor of the Journal of the American Planning Association, columnist for Planning magazine, Fellow of the Urban Land Institute, and member of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED LP-Technical Advisory Group.

Election Night Preview

The Chittenden County Historical Society presents "An Irish Program" in the Fletcher Free Library's Community Room.  Vince Feeney  speaks on "The Irish in Vermont."  Bill McKone talks on Civil War Capt. John Lonergan, and the first St. Patrick's Day Celebrations in Burlington.  Before, between, and after the talks Cindy Hill (Burlington Irish Heritage Festival) plays some Irish tunes.

Chittenden County Transit Authority General Manager Chris Cole, Local Motion Director Chapin Spencer, Annie Bourdon of CarShare Vermont and other transportation leaders discuss transportation issues, ideas and initiatives.

Slated as an informative forum on Vermont Yankee to talk about the Senate vote on the re-licensing of Vermont Yankee and the resolution on the Winooski town meeting ballot.  Speakers include: Senate President Pro Tem Peter Shumlin, Arnie and Maggie Gundersen, Senator Tim Ashe, Mark Floegel, James Marc Leas and others.  Moderated by Winooski resident, Robert Millar.
