Women soliders are participating in combat more than ever before, but only one in ten soldiers is female, making them painfully alone, thus the title of her latest nonfiction 'The Lonely Soldier: The Private War of Women Serving in Iraq'.

CCTV Productions produced this award winning 13-minute video for Mercy Connections and Vermont Works for Women. It tells the story of the Vermont Women's Mentoring Program which connects women leaving prison with mentors in the community. The video includes interviews with program officials, incarcerated women and mentor/mentee pairs. It also features the song "Road to Freedom" by Rebecca Padula and Jess Wilson, written specifically for the project.

The Chittenden County Historical Society presents "An Irish Program" in the Fletcher Free Library's Community Room.  Vince Feeney  speaks on "The Irish in Vermont."  Bill McKone talks on Civil War Capt. A broad-based effort to build a culture of safety and respect on Burlington's Streets, the Safe Streets Collaborative focus on motorist, clyclist and pedestrian behavior, communicating the repsponsibilities fo each mode in making our streets safe.

The Essex Junction Trustees is the governing, legislative body for the Municipality of the Village of Essex Junction. The five member board is elected at large within the Village. The board includes the position of Village President. Unlike the appointed chairs of select boards or city councils, the position of president is elected by Australian ballot by Village voters. The three year terms of the Trustees are staggered to provide continuity. The Trustees usually meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings in the meeting room at the Village municipal office building at Five Corners The public is invited to attend all meetings, and may address the board or ask questions during a special “public to be heard” section at the beginning of each meeting.

Abenaki Singers - Traditional Wabanaki chants and songs accompanied by hand drum. Interview with Walker and Melody Brook - Dressed in 1609 period costume, Walker and Melody share their insights into being an Abenaki. Abenaki Dancers - Award winning Takara Matthews and Josh Hunt demonstrate some of the dances of a New England Pow-wow. This program is part of the Lake Champlain quadricentennial celebration.

Slated as an informative forum on Vermont Yankee to talk about the Senate vote on the re-licensing of Vermont Yankee and the resolution on the Winooski town meeting ballot.  Speakers include: Senate President Pro Tem Peter Shumlin, Arnie and Maggie Gundersen, Senator Tim Ashe, Mark Floegel, James Marc Leas and others.  Moderated by Winooski resident, Robert Millar.
