Necessary - Jahnine's Poem about being an Americorps Vista 07/17/2013

Jahnine Spaulding reads her poem "Necessary" as part of her Americorps Vista ceremony wrap up.  Jahnine served time with the program Operation Military Kids and used some of her time at Channel 17 creating a promotional video for the organization.

Drawing inspiration from photographic processes, Sam Falls conducts outdoor experiments similar to contact sheet printing. Using sunlight to ‘develop’ the imprint of wood onto large swaths of fabric or infusing colored dye into hay bales, Falls applies the physical and technical aspects of image making to unconventional materials. By juxtaposing photography’s technical process with sculptural convention and painterly form, Falls’ work introduces a harmonious dialogue between three independent mediums. Welcome to the OHS 2013 Convention website where you will find our daily schedule at-a-glance.  Last summer we rolled in and out of Chicago. This year, change of direction takes us north, a great place to be in late June, where we will hear mostly small 19th Century trackers, many unaltered.  In northern Vermont there are a great number of incredibly beautiful rural churches housing their original instruments.  Several organs are one of a kind and one is the only remaining two-manual instrument of Vermont's most prolific 19th century builder, William Nutting, Jr. Headquartered in Burlington, we will make daily forays into the countryside, returning to the city at the end of every day, with time to relax before the evening events. On one of those evenings we will enjoy a dinner cruise on sparkling Lake Champlain.

While traditional conventions of painting prioritize image and content, Dan Tranberg’s work inverts this dynamic by championing the materials used in the paintings’ composition. Through the incorporation of materials like yarn, glitter, and Roll-a-Tex, Tranberg’s work creates an overtly tactile experience that emphasizes materiality above all else. Known for their luminous color and layered surfaces, Gail Salzman’s abstract oil paintings have been exhibited widely across the East Coast. The title of the exhibition references a method of measuring depth, and brings together Salzman’s most recent body of work in a metaphorical investigation of water’s seen and unseen influence on our lives. While exploring formal elements of composition, Salzman uses water to represent the fluidity of time and memory while recalling multiple levels of experience. Salzman lives and works in Vermont. Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels. Interested applicants should send their resume and cover letter (including why they are interested in this position and any relevant experience) to Jordan at jmitchell@cctv.org.
