Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month. Meeting place: Greek Orthodox Church 600 South Willard Street.

Gov. Peter Shumlin signs H.56, The Vermont Energy Act, promoting renewable energy development and clean energy jobs, at the commissioning of a 150kW solar array at the Farm at South Village in South Burlington. The array provides carbon-free electricity for 100% of the Farm at South Village and South Village Community's energy consumption needs. The array will also provide clean energy to the City of South Burlington for the City's traffic lights.

Whistle Where You Work: Highlights from GAP's Food Whistleblower Conference, Episode 32 05/24/2011

WWYW is a multimedia program focusing on issues of accountability, that is produced by the Government Accountability Project, the nation’s leading whistleblower protection and advocacy organization.

On February 11, 2011, the Government Accountability Project's Food Integrity Campaign (FIC) put on a conference, "Employee Rights and the Food Safety Modernization Act," at the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. The all-day seminar focused on the impact of new legislation - that includes whistleblower protections for food industry workers who report FDA violations - on public and worker health, the environment, and American consumers.

This episode of Whistle Where You Work provides a few highlights from the conference, including discussions of why the Food Safety Modernization Act was needed, experiences of whistleblowers who have been retaliated against for reporting food safety concerns, and how difficult it is for farmworkers to blow the whistle.

Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels.
