“Winooski Then and Now” is an entertaining compilation of short video clips by Dan Higgins demonstrating changes in Winooski since he arrived in 1969. The video begins with urban renewal demolition of the downtown in the 1970s. Residents discuss the disruptive impact on social life caused by that and by Winooski’s 1980s “redevelopment” projects. A time-lapse clip follows, capturing the 2004 redevelopment of the downtown, along with a tour/critique of the current parking garage.
The video continues with examples of cultural diversity introduced by new Winooski residents from various ethnic backgrounds, including foods, drumming and dance, and an African fashion show. Other vignettes from past episodes of Dan’s TV series, Winooski LIVE!, introduce the viewer to aspects of life in this unique Vermont community. These include daredevil antics at the skateboard park, creation of a legendary deli sandwich, the opening of an art gallery café, pedestrian frustration at crossing Winooski’s traffic rotary, and a bartender’s bar tricks. The video concludes with a rousing rendition of Betsy Nolan’s song “We Live in Winooski” that celebrates the town’s funky character. This video is produced by Dan Higgins. Host Lauren-Glenn Davitian speaks with John Reuwer who traveled with Christian Peacemaker Team to mining zone in Columbia's southern Bolivar province.  John shares his efforts to support small-scale miners organizing to protect their rights in the race of Colombian military efforts to "secure" the zone for multinational investment. Christian Peacemaker Teams is an initiative of the historic peace churches (Mennonites, Church of the Brethren, and Quakers) with support and membership from a range of Catholic and Protestant denominations. CPT has had a continuing presence in Colombia since May 2001..
