Protest Against the Events in Tigray Ethiopia 06/05/2021

In November 2020, in a struggle over autonomy, Abiy Ahmed declared war on the Tigray region of Ethiopia claiming retaliation for an unverified attack. The Tigrian people have been caught in the middle of this bloody conflict for months after having endured a devastating year in which the region faced challenges due to COVID-19, massive flooding and a locust outbreak that destroyed crops. As a result of a communications blackout, much of the international community is unaware of the atrocities and hardships that continue to face this region.

A group from Boston drove up to Burlington to march against the events in Tigray and bring awareness to the atrocities taking place there.

Memorial Day Commemoration 2021 05/31/2021

This Memorial Day, the commemoration hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 782 is a little different: While the tradition of honoring and remembering members of the United States military who died serving the country remains unchanged, this year the VFW and City of Burlington also pauses to remember those in the community lost during the pandemic.

The VFW sets up a field of flags to honor each person who passed away from COVID-19 in the City so far, along with two trumpet solos, remarks from the Post Commander, Mayor, and a leader from the Vermont National Guard. The Vermont Guard has stepped forward in such an incredible way throughout this pandemic. The ceremony concludes with taps.

Recollections of a Ruthless Rider: Recounting Vietnam : The Making of A Helicopter Pilot 05/17/2021

John W. “Bill” Pospisil, Jr., U.S. Army Captain, recalls his time in Vietnam during the Vietnam War in a series of interviews. He was in Troop A, 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, in Vietnam from October 21, 1968 to October 17, 1969.

Jet Line: Voicemails from the Flight Path 04/15/2021

This short documentary employs an anonymous hotline to elevate the voices beneath Vermont’s F-35 flight path, the first urban residents to live with one of the US military’s most controversial weapons systems overhead.

Tranquil scenes of unassuming neighborhoods near Burlington International Airport are juxtaposed with voicemails of the unheard, those drowned out by the ear-shattering “sound of freedom.”

Exploring the relationship between picturesque residential areas and the deafening weapons systems overhead, Jet Line is a poetic portrait of a community plagued by war machines, documenting untenable conditions in a small city once voted one of the best places to live in America.

Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels.
