Burlington Irish Heritage Festival - Harpist Dominique Dodge 03/17/2018

An informative exploration of Irish traditional music and song on the harp. Dominique begins with music from the time of the blind 17th Century harper Turlough O' Carolan, and moves forward in time to trace the lineage of modern day dance forms Irish musicians know and love, visiting a song or two along the way.

Dominique Dodge is a harper and singer who grew up in Jackson, NH and now makes her home in Vermont and Cape Breton. She is deeply grounded in traditional music and song. A former Fulbright Scholar and a 2012 graduate of the University of Limerick with an MA in Irish Music Performance, Dominique also holds a BA Honours in Scottish Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. She is a dedicated learner of Scottish Gaelic and has been performing, recording, and teaching traditional music on both sides of the Atlantic for over a decade.

Burlington Ward 5 NPA Meeting 03/15/2018

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month.

SUNY Plattsburgh Sociology Professor Charles Simpson, of Burlington, Vermont's Coalition for a Livable City and the Burlington Ward 6 Neighborhood Planning Assembly, James Leas, a patent lawyer and F-35 activist, and Michael Long, a concerned citizen, provide their personal take, not endorsed by the Coalition or the Assembly, on matters in Burlington and the Greater Burlington area of livability, sustainability, and affordability.

The March 2018 episode looks at the following matters around town: the basing of 18 F-35s at BTV, the re-design of City Hall Park, the shape of the Champlain Parkway, the future of Memorial Auditorium, the impact of UVM on rent levels and housing generally (the Neighborhood Project), the continued influence of the Infinite and Carina campaigns, CLC and R&D on city directions, and public participation/inclusion/diversity in city decisions on BT, the NPAs, Memorial, and CHP.

Williston Development Review Board 03/13/2018

The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.
