Essex Planning Commission meetings are all held at the Town Offices at 81 Main Street in Essex Junction, in the downstairs conference room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Focusing on housing programs of Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity

Fair Housing Project (FHP): Advocacy/Public Advocacy, referrals, education and outreach, enforcement, and information regarding Housing Discrimination issues.

Mobile Home Project (MHP): Advocacy/Public Advocacy, tenant organizing, referrals, counseling, and information for Manufactured Home Owners who are renting lots - especially those in Mobile Home Parks.

Vermont Tenants (VTI): Advocacy/Public Advocacy, organizing, advice, tenant counseling, training, and information regarding Residential Tenancy.

Great Streets BTV 09/14/2016

The Great Streets initiative's premise is to work with citizens, stakeholders, and officials of Burlington on three interrelated efforts:

1. Downtown Street Standards: The goal of this effort is to create a palette of urban elements that are beautiful, practical, affordable, sustainable, and appropriate for downtown Burlington from Pearl to Maple (north to south) and from Union to Battery (east to west).

2. Main Street / St. Paul Street: This initiative will apply those standards to the redesign of six segments of Main Street from Union to Battery and two segments of St. Paul Street from Main to Maple. This effort will culminate in the construction of two key segments of Main Street between Pine and Church.

3. City Hall Park: This project continues the effort to reconstruct one of the oldest and most significant public spaces in Burlington. The work here starts with the already completed schematic design from the four-month public engagement process, Imagine City Hall Park, completed in 2011, and ends with the much anticipated reconstruction.

Burlington Ward 1 and Ward 8 NPA Meeting 09/14/2016

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 1 & 8 meet the second Wednesday of the month.

#NoDAPL Solidarity Action! 09/13/2016

The Camp of the Sacred Stones and the Red Warrior Camp, both leading the resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline, have put out a call for solidarity actions that target the corporations and financial institutions that are building and financing this pipeline through native lands.

Michels Corporation - the contractor building the Dakota Access Pipeline through the land of the Standing Rock Sioux - is also building the fracked gas pipeline in western Vermont.

In solidarity with the #NoDAPL resistance, join Vermont's pipefighters and march onto an active Vermont Gas/Michels pipeline construction site to shut them down for the day. Activists hold up the indigenous-led struggle 1500 miles away and raise money to send to this resistance out west.

Williston Development Review Board 09/13/2016

The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.

Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels. Interested applicants should send their resume and cover letter (including why they are interested in this position and any relevant experience) to Jordan at jmitchell@cctv.org.
