Ted Wimpey, Director of CVOEO's Fair Housing Project is joined by East District City Councilor Selene Colburn who serves as Chair of the Burlington Council's Community Development and Neighborhood Revitalizatoin (CDNR) Committee.  Ted and Selene provide a history, overview and purpose for the ordinance, and speak to the current process leading to a pending consultant's review of the ordinance as recommended by the Burlington Housing Action Plan.  A Request for Proposal drafted by the City's Community and Economic Development Office, and the Mayor's Office, for solicitation of prospective consultant bids is under review by the CDNR committee.

Focusing on housing programs of Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity.  Fair Housing Project (FHP): Advocacy/Public Advocacy, referrals, education and outreach, enforcement, and information regarding Housing Discrimination issues.  Mobile Home Project (MHP): Advocacy/Public Advocacy, tenant organizing, referrals, counseling, and information for Manufactured Home Owners who are renting lots - especially those in Mobile Home Parks.  Vermont Tenants (VTI): Advocacy/Public Advocacy, organizing, advice, tenant counseling, training, and information regarding Residential Tenancy.

The draft Residential Parking Plan is considered for a vote by the Commission. Public input on the final draft is taken prior to the Commission’s vote. All the major recommendations in the plan require specific language to be developed, additional opportunities for public comment, and future votes by either the DPW Commission or the City Council.  The Burlington Public Works Commission represents the citizens of Burlington in determining and demanding appropriate departmental performance. Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 2 & 3 meet the second Thursday of the month.
