Common Good Vermont: Common Good Vermont Presents The Why and How of Giving and Raising Money 09/24/2010

The greatest opportunity for fundraising is always from individuals, who can make their decisions in a personal and immediate way. This workshop will explore the motivations of donors, the why of giving, in a time when increased systems and technology tends to make many fundraising methods feel impersonal and demanding, and when a changing economy makes people think about their giving in different ways. This will be balanced with an overview of the traditional gift pyramid approach, understanding the methods that work best for each level of giving, and ways to encourage donors to give more.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.

Andrea believes that storytelling and cause marketing are key ways to present a brand’s facts and attributes to today’s consumer – no gender about it. Andrea contributes to a wide range of publications/blogs, including HuffingtonPost.com, MPDailyfix.com, TomPeters.com, Women-omics.com, and LearnedOnWomen.com - where she presents her most current analysis of consumer/cultural shifts and marketing best practices. Vermont Air National Guard Renewable Energy Project 09/10/2010

The Vermont Air National Guard breaks ground on a $4.8 million Renewable Energy Project that will significantly reduce the base’s dependence on fossil fuels, improve energy security and demonstrate the effectiveness of three different types of photovoltaic (PV) applications at an Air National Guard Base. Major General Michael Dubie will be joined by Governor James Douglas, Senator Bernie Sanders, State Representative Tony Klein and Mr. Ken Pigeon of Engineers Construction, Inc. for the groundbreaking. Senator Sanders obtained the Federal Funding that this makes this project possible.

Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month. Meeting place: Greek Orthodox Church 600 South Willard Street.

The Burlington Telecommunications Advisory Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month. BTAC is responsible for Advising Burlington Telecom on a number of issues from the public's perspective. BTAC deals with buildout issues, some financing and channel addtions or deletions.

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy is pleased to announce receipt of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant alongside 32 peer archival institutions across the country.
