Channel 17 presents LIVE Primary Election Candidate Forums

July 05, 2018
Watch Democracy in Action with Local Votes Candidate Forums from July 11-August 7, 2018

Vermont’s primary election — on August 14th — will determine who will be on the ballot in the general election on Tuesday, November 6th.

“As voters, we all have the power to decide who represents us, so it’s important to understand the process and know where each candidate stands on the issues we care about,” says Channel 17 Director Meghan O’Rourke. With a number of local and state offices to be elected, including U.S. senator, U.S. representative, governor, and lieutenant governor, next month’s primary election is about “weighing in on bigger statewide and national priorities,” explains O’Rourke.

Beginning July 11th, Channel 17/Town Meeting Television will present candidate forums for every contested primary election on the ballot in Chittenden County and statewide. All candidates listed on the ballot, or running write-in campaigns, are invited to appear on live candidate call-in forums.

Primary Election Forums air live on Comcast and Burlington Telecom cable Channels 17 and online at www.ch17.tv/live from July 11 - August 7, 2018. Unless otherwise noted, forums begin at 5:25 p.m. and are held at the Channel 17 Studios, 294 North Winooski Avenue, Burlington, VT. (2nd Floor) The public and press are invited to attend all forums and viewers are encouraged to ask the candidates questions — in person, by phone (802-862-3966), or by submitting questions to feedback [at] cctv [dot] org (please include what town you live in and which candidates your questions are for).
