More than 300 Nonprofits to Participate in Statewide Day of Giving

“Vermont Gives” 24-Hour Online Fundraising Event Slated for June 7

Burlington, VT – Common Good Vermont is excited to announce that more than 300 Vermont nonprofit organizations are participating in Vermont Gives, our state’s first-ever 24-hour, online fundraising event, to be held June 7th. Led by Common Good Vermont in partnership with the Vermont Community Foundation and Ithaca-based GiveGab -- and officially declared "Vermont Gives Day" by Governor Peter Shumlin -- this event will raise funds and awareness for nonprofits throughout the state.

Vermont Gives is modeled after similar events held in locations across the country, including Upstate New York’s “Giving is Gorges” campaign (which recently raised over $100,000 in one day!) and the international “Giving Tuesday” event that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Fueled by the power of social media, Vermont Gives will enable nonprofits of all sizes to reach thousands of new potential donors and boost visibility through Facebook and Twitter, a variety of marketing materials, and word of mouth. Success for Vermont Gives depends on frequent sharing of emails, announcements, and social media posts. Organizations are encouraged to use the campaign-specific hashtag #VTGives to amplify their fundraising messages.

The goal of Vermont Gives is to create a one-day focal point to mobilize citizens to donate to their favorite local charities and causes, to highlight the impact that giving has on nonprofit organizations, and to strengthen and support our local communities. “As we strive to build nonprofit capacity and further build a community of philanthropy in our state, we look forward to this opportunity to celebrate and further our missions together,” said Lauren-Glenn Davitian, Executive Director of CCTV Center for Media & Democracy and Common Good Vermont.

Visit www.vermontgives.org to register your 501c(3) charity today and to donate funds to your favorite local charities. Use #VTGives as the hashtag in your social media posts!
