Stand Tall for Free Speech and #GivingTuesday

November 30, 2016

Dear Friend,

Media and Democracy are more important than ever.

Today is #GivingTuesday, and we hope you'll stand tall with us for free speech and social change by making a tax-deductible gift--matched by one of our beloved and generous donors. Together we can protect and nurture our thriving communities!

With your support, we will continue to make sure that public access channels remain open, government operates in the light of day, and free speech remains a cherished value in our community.

In 2016:

  • Channel 17/Town Meeting Television negotiated a new contract with Burlington Telecom to deliver high quality community media over the next eleven years, with
our colleagues at VCAM and RETN.
  • With Vermont Access Network, we advocated to modernize Comcast’s delivery of community access in Vermont.

  • Town Meeting TV continues to train the next generation of media makers through summer camp and internships while producing hundreds of local programs that open the door to local government and new ideas.

  • Common Good Vermont expands the reach and impact of nonprofit organizations across the Green Mountain State through its valuable resources, training, and convening--and supports valued initiatives such as #GivingTuesday.

In 2017, we’ll increase our Vermont Legislative coverage with our partners, add more live meetings, negotiate a new contract with Comcast, ensure that Burlington Telecom remains a local asset, and keep our eye on threats to digital freedom through our media literacy efforts.

Please consider supporting CCTV and free speech today.

With gratitude, Lauren-Glenn Davitian
& the CCTV Staff and Board

P.S. We hope you will join us for our Celebration of Light Holiday Party at the Channel 17/Town Meeting TV Studio on Thursday, December 15th! Please contact Meghan at 802-862-3966 or morourke [at] cctv [dot] org to let us know you can make it.
