As April Fair Housing Month approaches, we take a look at how housing discrimination manifests itself in Vermont. We discuss fair housing law and how it applies to landlords and advertising, and what to do if you experience housing discrimination. We also highlight the upcoming art and community events happening in Burlington and around the state to celebrate the anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, which was signed into law in April 1968.

Host Ted Wimpey is joined by Sandrine Kibuey, the new director of CVOEO’s Vermont Tenants and Mobile Home Program. Sandrine has recently taken on the directorship of the two established statewide housing programs after having worked at positions in CVOEO’s Chittenden Community Action for a number of years. Sandrine explains what Vermont Tenants and the Mobile Home Program do and services provided by them as well as her vision for the future of the programs.

Ted Wimpey, Director of the Fair Housing Project at CVOEO, speaks with Lauren Pyatt, Education & Outreach Specialist with the Burlington Lead Program. Lauren explains how the Burlington Lead Program generally works and its various benefits, especially to people with lower incomes who are often in a protected fair housing class such as: people with various disabilities, members of ethnic and racial minority populations, people with young children, New Americans (especially those with limited English ability), and others.

Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels. Interested applicants should send their resume and cover letter (including why they are interested in this position and any relevant experience) to Jordan at jmitchell@cctv.org.
