Farms, Land, People: Stories of the Intervale Center 04/04/2018

For 30 years, the Intervale Center has been a place of stories - stories of the land, stories of farmers and gardeners, stories of renewal, and stories of hope. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, the community is invited to participate in an evening of funny, quirky, sad, and inspiring storytelling with an Intervale theme.

The storytellers include Mandy Fischer, Tom Hudspeth, Bill Mares, Ron Krupp, Eric Seitz, Melissa Pasanen, and Seth Gillim with support from Sue Schmidt, Vermont StorySLAM Producer and Flynn Center for the Performing Arts.

The Intervale Center is a unique food and farming nonprofit in Burlington, VT with a mission to strengthen community food systems.

Vermont Affordable Housing Show: How Much Progress Have We Made Since the Federal Fair Housing Act 04/04/2018

April is Fair Housing Month! Ted Wimpey, Chair of the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition Steering Committee and Director of the CVOEO Fair Housing Project, interviews Amy Demetrowitz, Director of Real Estate Development for the Champlain Housing Trust.

On the 50th anniversary of the passage Federal Fair Housing Act in 1968 (one week after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.), these long-time leaders in affordable housing discusses systemic issues which affect its development, especially in Chittenden County. They explore some possible systemic changes — mostly at a municipal level — that could create conditions for more affordable housing to be built; less zoning that tends to be exclusionary in impact and more ways to create housing opportunities for lower- and moderate-income people. In other words, not the funding issues that are so important of course, but rather zoning and permitting factors that can enhance or obstruct more affordable housing creation.

Burlington City Council - Reorganization and State of the City Address 04/02/2018

The Burlington City Council meets on Mondays, often three times each month at 7pm. Their meetings air live on Channel 317 (Burlington Telecom) and repeat on Channel 17 at the air times listed below. Summer Video Production Internship - Applications Open

Town Meeting TV is hiring two paid interns to join our production team for the summer! The program will run from Monday, June 24th until Friday, August 16th (8 weeks). $17 an hour, approximately 8 hours per week. We are looking for folks who have basic or intermediate experience with video recording and editing on Adobe Premiere. Interns will work with the Town Meeting TV Co-Directors to pick stories or events that they would like to cover in our community, practice outreach skills, then shoot and edit video that will be broadcasted on Town Meeting TV's YouTube and cable channels.
