Join us at the Burlington First Unitarian Universalist Society this Sunday to call for a moral economy in Vermont, one that includes livable wages, family and medical leave, and justice and fairness in the workplace. We invite you to learn how you can get involved in an initiative to increase our state’s minimum wage to $15/hour, push for family and medical leave insurance, protect workers’ rights here in Burlington, and support the efforts of the University of Vermont Medical Center patient care professionals to form a union and advocate for themselves and their patients.
The Unitarian Universalist Society's Economic Justice Task Force, Rights & Democracy VT, Vermont Workers' Center, Vermont Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, and Vermont Interfaith Action have come together to organize this event, lifting up the intersecting struggles to unionize underserved workers, raise the minimum wage, and protect our human right to health insurance.
These struggles are building on the energy generated by the Women’s March on Montpelier to make a real difference in our community. Fighting for a moral and equitable economy and justice in our workplaces and communities is a crucial way to resist the Trump Administration’s and Congress' direction for our country.
