Housing Summit -- Creative Communities: North, South, Central, Downtown and Waterfront

Before Council signs off on the mayor's Housing Action Plan (HAP), Neighborhood Planning Assemblies share with City Council the many creative approaches to expanding housing communities in the city.

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government.

Sarah Woodward of CVOEO's Mobile Home Program hosts a discussion about the sale of the Farrington’s Mobile Home Park and offers an update on resident efforts to form a Resident-Owned Cooperative, North Avenue Cooperative, to explore the feasibility of purchasing the park.

Burlington Business Association: Annual Summit - Housing and its Link to BTV's Future Economy 01/14/2015

In Burlington the average household spends 44% of its income on housing costs. The business community reports that the local housing market makes it challenging to recruit employees, retain professionals and grow our economy. The good news, however, is that work is being done to address the issue. Projects are on the table.

This Summit will focus on the "Housing Crisis" with a program that informs its members and motivates them to support change.
