Description

In recognition of his efforts on behalf of Vermont Frontiersmen, the State of Vermont has declared June 23rd, 2016 "Ethan Allen Day." Governor Peter Shumlin, in accordance with the Board of Trustees at the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum, has proclaimed June 23 to be the first annual Ethan Allen Day in Vermont. On this day in 1775, the Continental Congress honored Ethan Allen at Independence Hall in Philadelphia for his courageous actions at Fort Ticonderoga. Allen was commissioned a Lieutenant Colonel of the Green Mountain Regiment, one of the first regiments of the Continental Army of the United States.
