Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), this weekend headed a bipartisan U.S. Senate delegation to Cuba. Leahy’s delegation met with Cuban Government officials, business representatives, local religious leaders, foreign ambassadors and others. The delegation’s focus was on the unfolding progress toward normalization of relations between the United States and Cuba. An announcement by the two governments is expected soon about the opening of embassies. The three-member bipartisan delegation left Washington on Thursday night (June 25) and will return on late Sunday (June 28).
