Description

Host Don MacDonald is joined by Coach Jim Carter, players Anna Jennemann and Carter Monks, and parent Dave Jennemann to discuss the trip of eleven local youth baseball players to Havana, Cuba. During the school vacation week in April they played a series of five baseball games against Cuban teams under the auspices of the Cuban American Friendship Society (CAFS), a Burlington-based organization founded in 1981 whose mission is to build community by fostering connections between the people of Cuba and the United States.

The Vermont team included players from five local teams – Burlington American, North Burlington, Essex Junction, Shelburne, and Mount Abraham. It was managed by former Winooski High School and University of Vermont coach Jim Carter, who was assisted by Essex High School athletic director Jeff Goodrich and baseball author.
