VICII continues their fall series of talks and discussions on Burlington, VT. All events are from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, are free and open to the public and will be held at the Old North End Community Center at 20 Allen Street, Burlington, Vermont, 05401 on the third floor.

Essex Junction Trustees 12/10/2019

The Essex Junction Trustees is the governing, legislative body for the Municipality of the Village of Essex Junction. The five member board is elected at large within the Village. The board includes the position of Village President. The position of president and vice president are decided (appointed) through a vote of the board itself.  This was a function of a charter update at the 2010 annual meeting. The three year terms of the Trustees are staggered to provide continuity. The Trustees usually meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings in the meeting room at the Village municipal office building at Five Corners. The public is invited to attend all meetings, and may address the board or ask questions during a special “public to be heard” section at the beginning of each meeting.

Presented by Daniel Weiss, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Medicine.

Operation City on a Hill: Democracy in America 12/10/2019

This month's show is a follow up to the last show on "The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority." The title is taken from Alexis de Tocqueville's famous examination of American Democracy. He saw the future threat to modern democracy comming more from subtle "soft despotism" than from an obvious tyranny. In his opinion, Europe had already caught this disease and he sought the cure in American Democracy. If we had paid more attention to his warning, we would not be so surprised by our current "crisis".

Williston Selectboard Special Budget Meeting 12/10/2019

The Williston Selectboard is a five member elected board. There are three positions elected for a three year term and two positions elected for a two year term on a staggered basis. The board is responsible for setting the general policy direction, passing ordinances, setting the tax rate, reviewing the budget, supervising the Town Manager, and a host of other related tasks.

Burlington Police Commission 12/10/2019

The Burlington Police Commissioners meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Burlington Police Department Community Room, 1 North Avenue. There is a Public Forum at the beginning of each meeting where members of the public may address the Commission.

Meetings are noticed via the Burlington Police Department website, the City of Burlington website, and via local media. If a meeting is cancelled, postponed, or rescheduled, information will be on the BPD website, the City website, and via local media. When possible, a sign will also be posted on the Administrative entrance door to BPD.

Burlington Ward 6 NPA Meeting 12/05/2019

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month.
