Chittenden Solid Waste District's mission is to provide efficient, economical, and environmentally sound management of solid waste generated by residents and businesses within its member towns and cities of Chittenden County.

 Director of Local Motion, Chapin Spencer, and Annie Bourdon of CarShare Vermont host other transportation leaders to discuss transportation issues, ideas and initiatives. Tonight's guest is Mark Rowell, Shop Manager of Bike Recycle Vermont. Bike Recycle Vermont is a nonprofit organization. We offer new life to old bikes! We rebuild bikes and pass them on. And we provide transportation and expand opportunities for low-income Vermonters.

Heather Rogers is a journalist and author. She has written for the New York Times Magazine, Mother Jones,and The Nation. Her first book, Gone Tomorrow: The Hidden Life of Garbage, traces the history and politics of household rubbish in the United States. The book received the Editor’s Choice distinction from the New York Times Book Review, and Non-Fiction Choice from theGuardian (UK). Her documentary film, also titled Gone Tomorrow, screened in festivals around the globe. Green Gone Wrong: How Our Economy Is Undermining the Environmental Revolution, her latest book, takes a critical, on-the-ground look at popular market-based solutions to ecological destruction. Rogers has spoken internationally on the environmental effects of mass consumption and is a senior fellow at the progressive US think tank Demos.

The Will Miller Social Justice Lecture series brings speakers to the UVM campus and the Burlington community to provide a continuing program of radical analyses of social, ecological and political concerns. The series is dedicated to Will Miller, Vermont’s activist philosopher and UVM Philosophy Professor for 35 years.

The history and current trendlines around Vermont's Working Landscapedocument that the enterprises that have been the stewards of Vermont'sworking lands are endangered and, seen from a generational perspective, that landscape is deeply threatened. Paul Costello, Executive Director of theVermont Council on Rural Development, and Roger Allbee, former VermontSecretary of Agriculture will review the history and status of the WorkingLandscape in Vermont, introduce the newly-established Vermont WorkingLandscape Partnership, and overview a five point Action Plan to ensure thevitality of working lands in Vermont for a new generation.
