“Tax Talk” with Vermont Legal Aid and Legal Services Law Line of Vermont.   Attorney Christine Speidel  ( VLA Low Income Tax Clinic Attorney) ,  Law Line Director Tom Garrett, and Law Line Paralegal Mary McGinniss, discuss the variety of resources available to help low income Vermonters during tax season as well as share information on the Low Income Tax Clinic at Vermont Legal Aid, criteria for Renters Rebate and how to access the statewide free tax sites. Step Up to Law Enforcement is a nine-week training program to prepare qualified female candidates for the Vermont Police Academy and/or careers with the Vermont Department of Corrections. Participants who successfully complete the program are supported as they apply to local police departments, the Vermont State Police and/or the Vermont Department of Corrections. New hires attend residential training at the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford or the Department of Corrections Academy in Rutland, as paid employees of their departments. Classes begin March 2010.
