Burlington Ward 2 and Ward 3 NPA Meeting 05/11/2017

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 2 & 3 meet the second Thursday of the month.

Burlington Police Department Community Barbecue 05/10/2017

Burlington, Vermont police host a neighborhood barbecue at Roosevelt Park in the Old North End. Food, non-profit services booths, music, canine demonstrations, firetrucks and more. This event was recorded by community producer Richard Gibbs.

Williston Development Review Board 05/09/2017

The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.

Nadando Contra la Corriente con Justicia Migrante: Episodio 6 - May Day March for Dignity 05/04/2017

Enrique Balcazar, organizador comunitario de Justicia Migrante, presentará videos de la Marcha para la Dignidad, una manifestación que se ocurrió el Primero de Mayo en Burlington. Los videos muestran trabajadores de ranchos lecheros demandando que Ben & Jerry's cumpla con su promesa de implementar el programa Leche con Dignidad en su cadena de abastecimiento y denunciando los ataques del Presidente Trump.

Enrique Balcazar, community organizer at Migrant Justice, will show videos from Mayday's March for Dignity, which took place in Burlington, VT. Videos show dairy workers demanding that Ben & Jerry's follow through on their commitment to join the Milk with Dignity program, followed by a protest at the U.S. Federal Building denouncing President Trump's attacks on immigrant workers.

Essex Planning Commission meetings are all held at the Town Offices at 81 Main Street in Essex Junction, in the downstairs conference room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Liisa Reimann Rivera - Originally from England, Liisa has lived in Burlington since 2006. She earned her Master's in Historic Preservation from the University of Vermont and is a principal with Blue Brick Preservation. Liisa lives in a 1954 ranch house, whose historic wooden windows she thinks are of a genius design seldom seen since, in Burlington's New North End. Liisa's passions include historic industrial buildings, firehouses and little-known builder-architects of the vernacular landscape.

Ron Wanamaker - Ron has been a member of the Board since 2007 and has served as Vice President and President. A passionate preservationist, he continues to serve on the Education Committee for Preservation Burlington and is also a member of Burlington’s Design Advisory Board. A contractor since 1988, he has lived and worked in Burlington since 1998 and managed Wanamaker Restoration as well as Champlain Valley Millworks.
