Williston Development Review Board 10/12/2010

Development Review Board (DRB) - The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.

Burlington Mayor's Press Conference: Champlain 400 Plaza Dedication 10/01/2010

Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss will join representatives of Quebec, other regional municipalities, Congressional representatives, and First Nation representatives for a dedication and ribbon cutting for the “Champlain 400 Plaza”. The dedication comes one year after the City and region’s celebration of the Quadricentennial, 400 years since the explorer Samuel De Champlain arrived in Vermont.

Burlington Mayor's Press Conference: Maritime Museum Withdraws from the Moran Redevelopment Project 09/28/2010

Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss held a press conference regarding the Moran Redevelopment Project. The press conference follows the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum’s announcement that it has decided to withdraw from the project. “While I’m disappointed that the Maritime Museum has decided to withdraw from the Moran Project, the City’s financial plan has been structured to allow for this possibility,” said Mayor Kiss. “The redevelopment of Moran continues to be an exciting opportunity for Burlington’s Waterfront and the City’s future.”

Burlington Wards 4 & 7 NPA Meeting 09/21/2010

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.

Burlington Receives Two National Service Grants for Service Positions in the Community 09/21/2010

Burlington is fortunate to be one of the beneficiaries of President Obama’s new efforts to grow volunteerism and service as one means foraddressing people’s needs, in particular during the economic downtown. Burlington’s Center for community and Neighborhoods has received 2 distinct grant awards to infuse the community with 40 diverse AmeriCorps and VISTA organizers who will serve in government, schools and non-profit agencies. The newly passed National Service Act will support a new wave of service and civic action to help tackle the nation’s toughest challenges. This renewed effort is evidenced in Burlington where over 300 individuals applied to compete for the 40 year-long service positions in the community.

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy is pleased to announce receipt of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant alongside 32 peer archival institutions across the country.
