Town Meeting TV Election Coverage During Covid

Dear Primary 2020 Candidate,

This election season is looking pretty different isn’t it? One great thing is that more and more people are showing interest and investment in the political process and it is likely we will see some large turnout at the ‘polls’ this August 11 and November 3 - even if the polls are voting by mail!

Town Meeting TV is hosting virtual forums this year. We already miss seeing all of your faces, shaking your hands, and sitting with you together at our studio table. We remain committed to sharing your voices, all candidates on the ballot, and to archiving important debates, forums and candidate events during this time.

In mid-July, Town Meeting TV will begin hosting down-ticket forums for contested primary seats, from the Chittenden County State Senate through to local House seats. If your seat is contested, you will be hearing from our production coordinator and we look forward to seeing you in virtual space! Reach out to maketv [at] cctv [dot] org if you have questions.

For those on the top of the primary ticket we need to hear from your campaign coordinators about forums you are involved in around the state. Town Meeting TV wants to show up, record, stream, air, share and archive these forums, either virtual or in person -- let us know. We stand committed to represent all voices on the ballot and encourage any candidates not invited to participate in these forums to upload content to our candidate content dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/request/yNL4irwrEz7BpbBje7wm

For the general election, Town Meeting TV will reach out in early September. We expect to host forums from the top of the ticket down through for all candidates on the ballot. We will likely take advantage of remote technology to host these, but we need to hear from you about any impediments you may have to virtual participation.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out and share your thoughts on how Town Meeting TV can best help you reach constituents and potential voters during this time and keep the wheels of democracy turning!
