Burlington Police Commission 07/02/2019

The Burlington Police Commissioners meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Burlington Police Department Community Room, 1 North Avenue. There is a Public Forum at the beginning of each meeting where members of the public may address the Commission.

Meetings are noticed via the Burlington Police Department website, the City of Burlington website, and via local media. If a meeting is cancelled, postponed, or rescheduled, information will be on the BPD website, the City website, and via local media. When possible, a sign will also be posted on the Administrative entrance door to BPD.

Burlington City Council 06/03/2019

The Burlington City Council meets on Mondays, often three times each month at 7pm. Their meetings air live on Channel 317 (Burlington Telecom) and repeat on Channel 17 at the air times listed below.

Burlington CEDO Show: Parallel Justice for Victims of Crime with Anthony and Kim 05/20/2019

Anthony Jackson Miller, Parallel Justice Specialist with the Burlington Police Department, and Kim Jordan, Parallel Juctice Specialist with the Burlington Community Justice Center, provide an overview of their program, and discuss how individuals in the community can proactively stay safe and protect their belongings and valuables as the days are becoming warmer.

They talk about locking up bikes, locking up cars, and keeping valuables out of plain site. Anthony and Kim also remind people that even if they become victims of crime, it is not their fault, and they did not deserve it. Finally, the two of them give an overview of who they are and how they differ in their responses.

Speak Out on Burlington Police Department Use of Force Policy 05/13/2019

The recent death of Douglas Kilburn and the video release of peace officer’s inappropriate use of force have once again rocked the community. These incidents are symptoms of larger systemic challenges that despite the history of Burlington policing remains unaddressed. In the absence of transparency and accountability, many have lost trust in and question the legitimacy of the BPD. The resulting lack of cooperation has made the Burlington community less safe – not more safe.

Constitutionally, our public servants have the sole, inherent and exclusive right of governing and regulating the police. Our constitution also establishes that public servants are accountable to those in whom power is inherent and from whom it is derived. Us.

Join us as we come together as a community to create a path forward that makes Burlington a safer place for everyone to live.

The Burlington police host a neighborhood barbecue at Edmunds' Middle School in the Old North End.  Trace Billodeau and Bruce Wilson interview performers and participants at the barbecue.
