Chickasaw Nation Films: Bearer of the Morning - The Life of Te Ata Thompson Fisher 11/01/2021

Born in small-town Oklahoma, Mary Thompson Fisher, later known as “Te Ata,” was determined to pursue her passion as a performer. Supported by her undeniable charisma and oratorical talent, Te Ata entertained and enlightened audiences across the world, including royalty and statesmen. Throughout her travels and performances, Te Ata kept her Chickasaw heritage close to heart and shared the unique story and spirit of the Chickasaw people. By studying and performing traditional Native American stories, she overturned negative stereotypes and advocated the preservation of Indigenous American cultures. As Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby noted, “She is a shining example of the power of artistic expression to change hearts and minds.” In many ways, Te Ata Fisher paved the way for Native Americans on stage and screen and remains a treasured voice for the Chickasaw people.

"Belonging: An Evening of Stories" is an exciting night of storytelling in the style and tradition of The Moth and produced in partnership with the master storytellers of Say It Forward Productions.

Compelling, true stories on the theme of belonging, with members of the CCS family – clients and staff – as the storytelling stars of the show! You also hear live music from The Brevity Thing.

The show is Thursday, May 10th at the Film House in the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center in Burlington.

Farms, Land, People: Stories of the Intervale Center 04/04/2018

For 30 years, the Intervale Center has been a place of stories - stories of the land, stories of farmers and gardeners, stories of renewal, and stories of hope. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, the community is invited to participate in an evening of funny, quirky, sad, and inspiring storytelling with an Intervale theme.

The storytellers include Mandy Fischer, Tom Hudspeth, Bill Mares, Ron Krupp, Eric Seitz, Melissa Pasanen, and Seth Gillim with support from Sue Schmidt, Vermont StorySLAM Producer and Flynn Center for the Performing Arts.

The Intervale Center is a unique food and farming nonprofit in Burlington, VT with a mission to strengthen community food systems.

Vermont Scorecard – Revived from the early 2000’s and further developed by Dru Roessle, Performance Improvement Manager at the Agency of Human Services, the scorecard shows how Vermonters are doing on important indicators of health and well being.

Vermont Insights – Produced by Building Bright Futures with funding from the Vermont Department of Education’s Race to the Top Grant, Vermont Insights provides a number of data sets pertinent to the well-being of Vermont children and families.
