Professor Sefakor Komabu-Pomeyie an international disability rights advocate will be the resource person for the show. Sefakor carries not only acquired knowledge but comes on with rich experiential knowledge serving as hope and a reference point to the Youth of Burlington with disability as they transition into adulthood.
This is a new TV series intended to changing the negative narratives about Disability and debunking the myths surrounding it. Infants with disabilities might not suffer much emotional trauma due to the ‘over protective measures’ parents or guardians put in for their support. However, their stories in transitioning from childhood into adulthood becomes difficult and sometimes unbearable as their developmental challenges outgrow them. A youth with disability’s psychological frame of mind is so critical for their self definition and needs serious attention by input of requisite knowledge that inwardly resonates ‘I AM ABLE’. This can be done through education, imparting knowledge to boost the self confidence of a youth with disability. This is important for their individual achievements. Parents, guardians, and the community as a whole must be correctly informed to be able to serve as a support base in shaping the future of the youth with disability in Burlington Vermont showing on the CCTV/Town Meeting TV network.
