The Essex Junction City Council is the governing legislative body for the Municipality of the City of Essex Junction. The five-member board is elected at large within the City. After each Annual Meeting, one member of the City Council is elected by the other members to the office of City Council President. The City Council President is the Chairperson of the City Council and presides at the City Council meetings. The three-year terms of the City Council are staggered to provide continuity. The City Council usually meets twice per month on Wednesday evenings in the meeting room at the City municipal office building at Five Corners The public is invited to attend all meetings, and may address the board or ask questions during a special “public to be heard” section at the beginning of each meeting. This board was referred to as the Essex Junction Board of Trustees until July 1st, 2022, when the former Village of Essex Junction was incorporated as a City.
