Senator Patrick Leahy: National Telecommunications Information Administration Awards $47 Million for Building Broadband Infrastructure in Vermont 07/02/2010

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke with Senator Leahy, Senator Sanders, Representative Welch and Governor Douglas on the National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) awarding of a $33.4 million grant to the Vermont Telecommunications Authority (VTA) and a $13.7 million grant to the Vermont Telephone Company (VTEL) through NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). The two grants are part of a $7.2 billion broadband investment program that Congress and President Obama crafted as part of last year’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Vermont Access Network (VAN): Creative Workforce Solutions Employment Institute 06/29/2010

On June 28th Voc Rehab Vermont and VABIR launched "Creative Workforce Solutions". All state agencies, who are covered under the Agency of Human Services, will be working together due to Challenges for Changes. Recorded on June 29th, the kick off at the state house - developed a plan for all the agencies to work with Voc Rehab Vermont on Employment. The goal is to have all jobseekers have the access to employment and incentives, regardless with what agency the participant come from. Further more - VABIR and VR will take the lead on this initiative and other agencies will need to adapt their employment programs.

Moran Blue Ribbon Committee 06/29/2010

The City Council Moran Blue Ribbon Committee's primary charge is to evaluate the proposed financial structure for the Moran project. This is the final scheduled meeting of this Committee, made-up of 3 Council members (Nancy Kaplan, Paul Decelles, Emma Mulvaney-Stanak) and 4 citizen members (Joseph Boutin (Chair), John Darcy, Dave Keelty, and Karen Marshall). Essex Planning Commission - Second Public Hearing on the 2011 Town Plan 06/24/2010

This meeting is the second part of a Public Hearing on the draft of Essex Town Plan. It is held in the Essex High School Cafeteria. The Planning Commission meetings are normally held at the Town Offices at 81 Main Street in Essex Junction, in the downstairs conference room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. The public is always welcome, and the meetings start promptly at 6:30 PM. If special accommodations are needed please call 802-878-1343 ahead of time.

Williston Development Review Board 06/22/2010

Development Review Board (DRB) - The Williston DRB consists of a seven member Board appointed by the Selectboard for staggered three year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed development projects. This includes conditional use, variance, site plan, and subdivision approvals. The Board also reviews Certificates of Appropriateness as recommended by the Historical Preservation Committee.
