George shares her experiences and lessons learned through engagement with this controversial topic. The proposal for sanctioned sites of opioid consumption for at-risk addicts has lead to collaboration on a bill before the Vermont state legislature and the state's attorney provides her perspective on creating these sites around the state.

UVM Community Medical School: Breast Density: The New Law & What It Means for Breast Cancer Screening & Risk 09/05/2017

As of January 15, 2017 all Vermont patients are legally required to be informed of their breast density, but now that patients know their breast density, what should they do with this information? Learn how a woman's breast density category affects her risk of developing breast cancer and how radiologists can detect it on mammography. Find out what you can do to improve the odds of a cancer being detected early, when treatable. The pros and cons of additional screening methods will be discussed to help patients make better-informed choices. FOCUS Host Margaret Harrington talks with Brenda Churchill, current liaison to the Vermont State Legislature for the LGBTQIA Alliance of Vermont. Brenda discusses her work with the Alliance which includes specific issues faced by her community, such as the ban against transgender people in the military. She also discusses the Hurricane Harvey LGBTQ Disaster Relief Fund and the Burlington Pride Parade on September 10th.

Old North End Youth Center Grand Opening 08/27/2017

Local youths introduce viewers to Burlington, Vermont's newest cultural resource: the converted Saint Joseph's School at 20 Allen Street which is now the city's Old North End Youth Center featuring programming and activities for young people ages 14-24.

The O.N.E. Youth Center is open on Monday and Friday, from 3 pm to 10 pm, and Wednesday from 3 pm to 6 pm.

This August on RAD TV - Live @ 525 we are breaking down one of RAD’s big campaigns to "Raise Up VT," which addresses workers' rights issues in Vermont ranging from implementing a $15/hr minimum wage, to paid family and medical leave. We discuss our goals for the campaign, as well as delve into the intricacies of raising a state’s minimum wage. We also touch on some of RAD’s successes over the past month and look to the future for upcoming events and campaigns. This month’s show starts with a response to white supremacy, the KKK, neo-nazis, racism, and hatred overall.

Burlington Ward 4 and Ward 7 NPA Meeting 08/23/2017

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Hope for Haiti 08/23/2017

A panel discussion on history, politics, and culture with Moise St. Louis, Zach Niles, and Robin Lloyd with Doreen Kraft as moderator.

We are holding this event at a time when many Haitians in the U.S. are considering relocating to Canada out of fear that Trump will not renew their special visas granted after the hurricane. We hope our discussion will provide insights into the unique history and lively culture of the Haitian people.

Moise St. Louis is the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Multicultural Student Services at St Micheal's College and a member of the Haitian community of Vermont. Zach Niles is the American producer of the Haitian band Lakou Mizik, formed after the earthquake of 2010 in an effort to bring healing and hope to the ravaged community. He has also been influential in the formation of an Artists Institute and School in Jacmel, Haiti. Robin and Doreen worked on the animated film "Black Dawn" in Haiti in the ‘70s, and Robin returned to produce several documentaries on Haitian culture and economy.
