Burlington Ward 6 NPA Meeting 11/03/2016

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month.

Collective Impact Conference 2016: Project Vision - Building Great Neighborhoods through Collaboration, Innovation and Research 11/02/2016

This statewide, two-day conference in Stowe, Vermont, on November 2-3, 2016 provided opportunities for teams of stakeholders to learn and work together in furthering emerging or existing Collective Impact efforts.

Rutland, Vermont's Project Vision team outlines their comprehensive collective impact approach in this marathon panel of ten participants from local government, social services, non-profit organizations and beyond... all striving for their vision of a safe, happy, healthy city.

FOCUS: Dakota Pipeline and Geprag's Park Vermont Protests Unify 11/02/2016

Channel 17 host Margaret Harrington gets together with Kevin Kamps, of Beyond Nuclear, Jane Palmer, of Rising Tide, Vermont, and Dr. Rachel Smolker, of Protect Geprag's Park, to talk about the unification of the Dakota Oil Access Pipeline Protest with the Fracked Gas Pipeline Protest in Addison County, Vermont. The activists emphasize the main similarity, which is that corporate interests take precedence over the needs and wishes of the people and the environment. Elected officials and those running for office are noncommittal. President Obama states he will wait to see how the Dakota Pipeline plays out while 140 Native American protesters are arrested and caged by law enforcement officers from seven states. Meanwhile, the Bundy Clan, who took over federal land by armed violence, have been acquitted by a federal jury.

Service Rendered Inc. has a grand opening for Straight Talk Vermont on November 4, 2016 at 4 pm held at the Burlington Town Center Mall, top floor across from Macy’s. The speakers include Burlington Rotary President Springer Harris, State's Attorney T.J. Donovan, Superintendent of Burlington School Yaw Obeng, Katarina Lisaius (from Senator Bernie Sander's office), and Don Sinex, CEO of Devonwood Investors LLC.

Burlington Police Commission 10/26/2016

The Burlington Police Commissioners meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Burlington Police Department Community Room, 1 North Avenue. There is a Public Forum at the beginning of each meeting where members of the public may address the Commission.

Meetings are noticed via the Burlington Police Department website, the City of Burlington website, and via local media. If a meeting is cancelled, postponed, or rescheduled, information will be on the BPD website, the City website, and via local media. When possible, a sign will also be posted on the Administrative entrance door to BPD.
