Burlington Main Street Great Streets Public Forum
-
March 28, 2025
From the organizers:
Burlington downtown businesses wants to know: what do you think of the Main Street Construction and Closure?
We would like you and everyone you know to join us for an open forum with DPW and the Mayor at Burlington City Hall.
Burlington businesses, friends and neighbors support the Main Street: Great Streets project’s goal of making a better Main Street and a better Burlington, but the current status of the project is hurting downtown and the people in it.
We are excited to hear answers to these big questions:
- Why can’t we have one-way access on Main Street to allow us into our city?
- Why is this project 10 months behind schedule?
- Why has Main Street been closed for over a year when it was meant to be a few months?
- Why was no meaningful support offered by the city after these multiple delays?
- What measures are being taken to minimize the impact of future work since the project continues for another 2 years? (projected till November 2026)
For over a year the city has asked us all to be patient and we have been very, very patient. But now we need to work on new solutions and find compromises to make Burlington better NOW, not just in 2 years.
Thank you to all who have joined us and all who will. If you cannot make it please consider writing your City Councilor or the Mayor with your thoughts.
