AARP and City of Burlington New North End Age Friendly Housing Forum 09/10/2025

Housing Forum will explore how New North End (NNE) residents can remain in their community that they love, in safer homes that will support them in their later years.

AARP Vermont and Burlington's Office of City Planning will be hosting an in-person housing forum focused on how residents can continue living in the community they love while in safer homes that support them as they age.

This forum will be a great opportunity for interested residents to learn from both industry professionals and fellow community members about creating age-friendly housing options in their neighborhood. This event will feature a panel discussion addressing how residents are currently making aging in place a reality, particularly those who have navigated the process of building in their own backyards. The panel will consist of residents who have successfully completed this process, along with local developers and builders who actively support these initiatives.

This forum is an opportunity for community members to provide insight and ideas to inform Plan BTV: New North End, which is a comprehensive plan the City is working on to shape future land use, housing and transportation needs for the NNE.

Join unions and social movement organizations to rally against Trump and the billionaire class this Labor Day in Burlington. We will assemble at Battery Park, march through the city, and return to Battery Park for a concluding rally and family-friendly picnic.

Now is the time to mobilize against the Trump regime’s relentless assault on workers and the oppressed. They want to divide and conquer us to enrich themselves at our expense. We will not fall for their tricks; we know that an injury to one is an injury to all. So, we will unite to defend our democracy and everyone’s rights as well as our jobs, wages, and benefits.

As we did on May Day, we call on all unions and organizations to mobilize their membership to make this Labor Day a demonstration of our unity and solidarity. By mobilizing, we can organize and increase our collective power to defend what we have and win what we want. Our future depends on it.
