Description
A video by community producer James Gero.
Taking inspiration from classic fantasy artist Frank Frazetta, snowboarding culture and his own native Vermont landscape, Scott Lenhardt envelops visitors in a parallel reality of otherworldly landscapes. From a hulking sculptural giant dominating the east gallery to delicate hand-carved bird-like creatures in the west gallery, Lenhardt’s work is simultaneously idyllic and unnerving. Rich with fantastical flora and fauna, Lenhardt presents his enigmatic scenes in a diverse range of mediums including drawings, paintings and illuminated multi-layered paint-on-glass light boxes. A highly successful commercial artist, Lenhardt has the distinction of having created over 45 snowboard designs for Burton Snowboards—more than any other artist.
