Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 2 & 3 meet the second Thursday of the month. Meeting place: McClure Multi-Generational Center 241 North Winooski Avenue

South End Artist's on PlanBTV in the South End 06/03/2015

This summit was set up by local artists to bring artists, South End Enterprise Zone businesses, community, and supporters together to share concerns about what direction PlanBTV South End could go. "The biggest threat to the South End in general is how the consultants ignore the role the Enterprise Zone plays in greater Burlington’s economy as well as their lack of consideration why both the arts and the businesses in the Enterprise Zone have a lot in common." Vermont Interfaith Action: Winooski School Transportation Action 06/03/2015

Ironically, although Winooski is only one square mile, transportation to and from school can be daunting for many families. There are no school buses, and the regular bus service does not run at appropriate times to help families get their children to school. Many families have only one car, and if work schedules do not coincide with the school schedule, driving children to school is problematic. Having little ones walk a mile in deep winter snow also creates problems with timely arrivals and being ready to learn when they do arrive wet, cold, and tired. This action is an effort to ask the school district, City of Winooski, Chittenden Regional Planning Commission, and other stakeholders to work together to come up with suitable solutions so that children can get to school safely, on time, and ready to learn.
