Williston Selectboard 11/15/2010

The Selectboard is a five member elected board. There are three positions elected for a three year term and two positions elected for a two year term on a staggered basis. The board is responsible for setting the general policy direction, passing ordinances, setting the tax rate, reviewing the budget, supervising the Town Manager and a host of other related tasks. : South Burlington City Council 11/15/2010

The South Burlington City Council is made up of 5 citizens who live in the City of South Burlington, elected at-large by the voters of the City. These five councilors sit with 2-3 year terms expiring in an annual rotation. The City Council meets regularly on the 1st & 3rd Mondays of each month to conduct business of the City and carry out the provisions of the City Charter. Special or emergency meetings can be called in the event that an urgent need arises for City Council authorization. City Council meetings are held at City Hall in the conference room and begin at 7pm.

Essex Selectboard 11/15/2010

The Selectboard meetings are all held at the Town Offices at 81 Main Street in Essex Junction, in the downstairs conference room on the first and third Mondays of the month. Ari Berman and Gov. Howard Dean discuss New Book 11/11/2010

Ari Berman and Gov. Dean have an open discussion about Berman's book, Herding Donkeys: The Fight to Rebuild the Democratic Party and Reshape American Politics which chronicles the recent history of the DNC, how Gov. Dean's chairmanship affected the Democratic Party, and what that meant for the elections of 2006, 2008 and the recent midterms.

Burlington Wards 2 & 3 NPA Meeting 11/11/2010

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 2 & 3 meet the second Thursday of the month. Meeting place: McClure Multi-Generational Center 241 North Winooski Avenue, Next to QTees.

Local Matters: Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission - Sustainable Communities Grant 11/11/2010

On behalf of a County-wide consortium of municipal, planning, transportation, energy, housing, conservation and other interested non-profits, Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission was awarded a nearly $1 million grant through an unprecedented interagency partnership. For the first time, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ensures, through the Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant program, that policies, programs and funding consider a holistic regional planning approach that integrates economic workforce development, housing, land use, transportation, and infrastructure investments with mindful and efficient use of federal dollars. CCRPC Executive Director Charlie Baker along with Sarah Carpenter, Executive Director, Vermont Housing Finance Agency and Paul Conner, Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of South Burlington share the potential impacts of this grant.

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy is pleased to announce receipt of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant alongside 32 peer archival institutions across the country.
