Burlington Wards 4 & 7 NPA Meeting 04/20/2010

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to empower citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies facilitate communication between the citizens of Burlington and city government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Wards 4 & 7 meet the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting place: Robert E. Miller Community Center 130 Gosse Court.

Senator Patrick Leahy: Press Conference- Cormorant Control, French Senate, U.S. Supreme Court Appointment 04/14/2010

Senator Leahy announces FY 2010 funding for cormorant control, sea lamprey and invasive species prevention, at USDA Cormorant and Lake Champlain Fishing Workshop. Followed by: Extending Vermont’s greetings to the delegation from the Senate of France. Delegation of members of the French Senate Economic Committee is in Vermont to study sustainable agriculture and green technologies. Then, the Senator takes questions from the press on the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court vacancy.

Neighbors and students gather with VSAVT for great food, great company, great performances at the installation of a steel and stained glass dome in the Hyde Street triangle park. The stained glass was created by VSAVT Can Do Arts class members at Terry Zigmund's Burlington Community Glass Studio; the dome by John Marius of Champlain Metals. Awareness Theater Company, Burlington City CEDO, H.O. Wheeler kids, Parks & Rec, HowardCenter, Champlain Community Services and area businesses all help neighbors transform the park into a gathering place for talent and good vibes.

An innovative and envelope pushing art experience known as GUMBO set to open at Burlington College on March 26, 2010. With the intent to celebrate, challenge, and examine the state of the society, GUMBO includes many artists with differing artistic backgrounds and perspectives.

The show consists of artists working in mediums such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, film & video art, and performance art, among others.

Curated by Burlington College Documentary & Photography student Dylan Kelley, GUMBO aims to challenge, inspire, and engage attendees in a discussion of the interconnectivity of ideas regarding art, humanity, and politics.

CCTV Receives NEH Grant to Support Community Archives

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy is pleased to announce receipt of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant alongside 32 peer archival institutions across the country.
