Essex Planning Commission

    Town of Essex Planning Commission meetings are all held at the Town Offices at 81 Main Street in Essex Junction, in the downstairs conference room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. The public is always welcome, and the meetings start promptly at 6:30 PM. If special accommodations are needed please call (802) 878-1343.

    The five members of the Essex Junction Planning Commission are appointed by the Village Trustees. The commission meets on the first and third Thursday of each month to review development applications, update the Land Development Code, and assist in the update of the Comprehensive Plan.

Essex Junction Trustees

  • February 25, 2020

    The Essex Junction Trustees is the governing, legislative body for the Municipality of the Village of Essex Junction. The five member board is elected at large within the Village. The board includes the position of Village President. The position of president and vice president are decided (appointed) through a vote of the board itself.  This was a function of a charter update at the 2010 annual meeting. The three year terms of the Trustees are staggered to provide continuity. The Trustees usually meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings in the meeting room at the Village municipal office building at Five Corners. The public is invited to attend all meetings, and may address the board or ask questions during a special “public to be heard” section at the beginning of each meeting.

Prescription Drug Importation Public Hearing

    In December 2019, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration published a proposed rule which may allow states to import prescription drugs from Canada.

    As part of the Scott Administration’s efforts to reduce health care costs for Vermonters, Governor Phil Scott and the Agency of Human services are seeking public input to inform the Administration’s planned comments on the federal rule and to understand the public’s views on importation of drugs from Canada.

    Public comments are due to the Federal Administration by March 9, 2020.

    The Agency of Human Services lead two public hearings: one in Burlington and one in Montpelier, to hear from stakeholders and members of the public to ensure the Administration’s comments reflect the expertise and feedback of those in Vermont’s health care system.
