Episodio 23 - Feliz dia de las madres/Happy Mothers Day

  • May 2, 2019

Feliz dia de las madres/Happy Mothers Day

    1ro de Mayo/May Day:

Migrant Justice participated in the May Day event, making the connection between climate change and why people migrate to the USA. Many of us, the farmworkers maintaining the dairy industry, come to the USA not because we want to but because we must. The big oil companies are stealing our dignity and land, making it impossible for our communities to sustain themselves.

    Asambleas comunitarias/Community assemblies:

On May 4, we have our community assembly, where we come together to continue to talk about our human rights and how to defend our basic dignity. We are living in times in which it is necessary to stick together and fight together, therefore we want to invite you to join us and contribute to the conversation about what we can do to defend our community. Also, we will have some very delicious grilled food; don't miss it.

For us, the latino community, Mother's Day is a very special holiday. Many of us are far away from our loved ones, for that reason we want to take the opportunity to congratulate all our hard-working mothers who fight day to day to gives us a better life. We have a series of videos and pictures of Migrant Justice members wishing a happy Mother’s Day to their loved ones. Also, we want to thank all of the mothers who are milking the cows to give their children a better future.

    Torneo:

    Alcoholicos anonimos/AA

In many communities, talking about problems with alcohol abuse is very difficult and even shameful. Alcohol abuse is a health issue that must be dealt with, because it impacts us physically and mentally and, ultimately, those who surround us. On May 11 from 10-11 in Middlebury, there will be a workshop to learn about how to deal with alcohol abuse and how to go about having a healthier lifestyle. Let's get together and learn together about different ways to be healthier; it will be in Spanish.
