I-89 Study Public Meeting - 05/10/2022

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) hosts a public meeting on the improvement plan for Interstate 89.

From the CCRPC:

"The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) is working with the Vermont Agency of Transportation to develop a comprehensive transportation improvement plan for Interstate 89 through Chittenden County. The Chittenden County I-89 2050 Study will address future transportation needs of all users by improving safety, connectivity, and mobility; promoting livable communities and a healthy environment; and investing in the regional economy. The Study is evaluating multimodal improvements at Exits 13 and 14 and a possible new interchange at Hinesburg Road.

This meeting will report on the analysis of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies and alternative modes (transit, bike, pedestrian) to reduce the need for capital improvements on I-89."

Bread Not Bombs - Support for Peace in Ukraine - 05/07/2022

The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom and Code Pink invite Peter Schumann, director of the Bread and Puppet Theater, of Glover VT, to hand out his sourdough rye bread as part of an event in support of Bread not Bombs on Saturday, May 7th.

This is part of a nation wide movement - PeaceInUkraine - which calls for a ceasefire and a negotiated settlement in Ukraine.

Peter was born in Silesia, a region of Central Europe, now mainly in Poland. His recently deceased wife, Elka Schumann, has family in Russia.

Out of family concern, and also as a long time bread maker and peace activist, Schumann is deeply distressed with the war in Ukraine, its impact on the people, the climate, the world and bread making.
