Description

A delegation from the Mayor’s office in Puerto Cabezas, Burlington’s sister city on Nicaragua’s Caribbean Coast, visits Burlington on a fact finding mission to learn about Vermont’s extraordinary community garden and cooperative farm projects. The municipal administration in Puerto Cabezas is starting an incubator project giving vegetable seeds to women in the communities so they can produce vegetables both for sale and toward improving the nutritional value of family meals. While in Vermont, the group observes local food growing models, from urban cooperative farms to small neighborhood garden projects.
