Music is the thread that has woven the tapestry of Karen's life. From singing with her sisters in the car on family road trips, to traveling the world with the musical group Up With People, to discovering and developing her skills as a singer/songwriter, to founding The Aphasia Choir of Vermont, music has been a source of great joy and purpose. She is proud of her 21-year career as a medical speech-language pathologist and looks forward to sharing more about her life's adventures.

Karen McFeeters Leary is a lifelong singer who discovered an ability to write songs when she turned 30. She has released four CDs of contemporary folk music and has performed around the state. After getting her Master's degree at the University of Virginia in the mid nineties, she worked as a speech-language pathologist at the UVM Medical Center for 21 years. In 2014, she founded The Aphasia Choir of Vermont, a group of stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors who can sing despite having difficulty speaking or being nonverbal. Karen became certified as a therapeutic musician through the Music For Healing and Transition Program in 2019 and currently partners with Age Well to lead singing groups in Chittenden and Franklin Counties titled "Singing for People With Memory Loss and Their Caregivers." She also enjoys providing special music during Sunday services at All Soul's Interfaith Gathering in Shelburne. A St. Albans native, Karen resides in Milton with her loving husband and rescue dog.
